Today was another good demolition day. More of the elements of this house that I disliked ended up in the demo pile. Included in this list are the yucky tile countertops, giant fluorescent light panel, gross sink, nasty cooktop, and disgusting dishwasher. Left in their places are spaces for our granite countertops and new appliances.
New Thermador Sapphire dishwasher!
Jennair gas cooktop! Gas people, gas! I have waited for this for a long time. The appliances are in the garage still in the packaging for safekeeping. But I had to steal a peek.
We also got new doors today for the front and back of the house. We chose simple doors with one pane of glass to maximize light in our dark hallway. There are mini blinds between the panes of glass. Johnny will paint them.
Speaking of doors, we also got a legal, 32 inch, fire-rated door that opens into the living room from the garage. This replaces a 30 inch, hollow core interior door that was here when we bought the house. Tomorrow we need to go shopping for new door hardware. The old brass just won’t work.
I saved the best for last. The ugly rock wall that came down was replaced today with beautiful new sheet rock!
Time to shop for the fireplace surround. The large hearth with be overlaid with a slab of granite to match the kitchen.
I am excited to see what tomorrow brings.
