Mayhem – Goat Style

February 18, 2013

Yesterday at dinnertime we had a little goat scare. Laverne never skips a meal, but yesterday afternoon she stayed up at the back of the pasture instead of coming down to eat with her sister and the emus. I called and called her but she stayed put. I decided to investigate. As I got closer to the top of the hill, I could see that she was caught in the wire fence and couldn’t get out because of her horns. I dropped my camera, called out for assistance from Michael. During the lapse in the video, we were working to free her from the fence safely. She took it all in stride and ran back down the hill to eat. Her sister Shirley had a myotonic episode during the run. You can see her hind legs lock up when she is running. I kept shooting video of the emus. Stuart is still madly in love with Chica, much to her dismay. Louis is still fascinated by camera straps and Loca is still trying to steal my glasses. At the end of the video, you can hear the girls make the adult female drumming sound.

Enjoy the mayhem.

Hi Mary, I love your blog and have to admit I now feel like a stalker LOL but had to check your blog out after I read it on the “Welcome”, Q&A Forum of PPSOP. Glad Laverne is okay…loved seeing the emus up close and personal! I’m new to WordPress so hope I did this right!

You did it right! We love stalkers here! Except the six feet tall ones with big beaks. Oh heck, we love those too. You can see from my “Grub” section that I really need the food photography class! Hope you visit often.

      Mary

Love the video! Poor little Laverne! So glad she is okay.
Love seeing the emus, of course!

Laverne is fine. The wire panels probably were not such a good idea but I was desperate. As you know, electric wire won’t stop an emu!
