Today is National Hot Dog Day! I couldn’t pass that up. I love a good hot dog. I decided to attempt to make my own hot dog buns from a recipe on King Arthur Flour. The rolls tasted great but mine did not come out shaped for optimal hot dog eating. I used my bread machine to make the dough trough the first rise. Next time I will form the dough rounder and less flat. Tomorrow I am going to use the extra rolls for ham and cheese panini. I think the shape is more conducive to a pressed sandwich.
The poppy seeds and course salt were the highlight of these rolls.
I steamed Nathan’s beef hotdogs and topped them with chopped sweet onions, homemade pickle relish, shredded cheddar cheese, and Siracha mayonnaise. Difficult to eat, but delicious.
