Squatters!

August 15, 2011

We are loving the repaved driveway. However, the ugly, cracked, rust stained patch of concrete just outside the garage doors was a complete eyesore. I decided to stain it black to match the asphalt. You can see it here:

I bought the stain and started to work on the project early this morning before it got too hot. I cleaned the concrete, scraped dirt and rocks up, and used the leaf blower to get it ready for the stain. I was staining away when I heard a ruckus that I thought was coming from a bird’s nest in the mulberry tree. As I worked I would occasionally hear loud bird sounds coming from the tree. At one point the noise stopped but I had an eerie feeling that I was being watched. I hate that feeling. I looked around and finally found the source of the noise and the stalking.

There it is, in the bracket on the back of the satellite dish! A squatter!

Here is a close-up of the noisy new neighbor.

I can’t even evict this noisy tenant because I do not own said satellite dish. It is leased to us by HughesNet. They are going to hear from my lawyers!

As I finished staining the driveway, my little friend would fuss and holler and suddenly Mom and Dad would appear with food. I suppose I’ll let him stay, but they better clean that mess out when they leave!

The ugly patch of concrete looks much better!

It's great, huh? You should come up more often. Everyone needs more random things in their life.

So cute. You come up with the most random of things up there.
